• Lenovo Thinkpad Sierra Wireless EM7345 crashes Networkmanager

    Hi all,

    a few days ago I installed the latest Antergos on my Lenovo Thinkpad T450s. So far, i was able to set up everything necessary for my produktive work.
    I observed a strange behavior/crash when trying to use my WWAN connection. When the WWAN connects to a mobile network, my NetworkManager crashes, and the KDE Network-Applet disappears. The strange thing is, that afterwards i still have a internet connection. I can stop the ModemManager and restart the NetworkManager. But as soon as I start the ModemManager again, the NetworkManager crashed again.

    Here are Some logs of the Network- and ModemManager:

    NetworkManager:

    It seems to me, that this is an issue, with the modem module Sierra Wireless EM7345 itself. I googled for this issue, but wasn’t able to find a fix. I tried also the lts kernel, but with no success.

    Does anyone have an idea, what i could try?

    Thanks and Regards,

    mf

  • I was experiencing the exact same problem
    Not running antergos but archlinux (which antergos is build on)

    Bus 002 Device 009: ID 1199:a001 Sierra Wireless, Inc.

    Whenever I connected with wwan, networkmanager would tell me (via nm-applet) that I got disconnected. Directly after ModemManager tells me the connection is succeeded

    Sine ModemManager is doing its job I thought problably NetworkManager had to be the problem.
    Looking at /var/log/pacman.log I saw the last time i updated NetworkManager

    [2017-05-13 23:28] [ALPM] upgraded networkmanager (1.8rc3+10+gddd6f94ab-1 -> 1.8.0-1)

    Rolled networkmanager package

    sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/networkmanager-1.8rc3+10+gddd6f94ab-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

    And the issue is resolved
