• Blurry Fonts

    In some apps like chromium or Cinnamon Settings Menues I get blurry fonts.
    I took this image from someone else’s post but it exactly what I get.

    My local.conf

    <match target="font"\>
    <edit name="autohint" mode="assign"\>
    <bool\>true</bool\>
    </edit\>
    <edit name="hinting" mode="assign"\>
    <bool\>true</bool\>
    </edit\>
    <edit mode="assign" name="hintstyle"\>
    <const\>hintslight</const\>
    </edit\>
    <edit mode="assign" name="lcdfilter"\>
    <const\>lcddefault</const\>
    </edit\>
    </match\>

    My Xresources

    Xft.dpi: 96
    Xft.antialias: true
    Xft.hinting: true
    Xft.rgba: rgb
    Xft.autohint: false
    Xft.hintstyle: hintslight
    Xft.lcdfilter: lcddefault

    I’ve tried ttf-liberation 1.07 from AUR but it didn’t help. I didn’t change anything else.

    Try

    Xft.antialias: false
    Xft.autohint: true
    Xft.hintstyle: hintfull

  • yes a bit better that way. Can you guys share your font configs with .Xresources.

  • I don’t have this file

  • what do you have ?

  • I am using XFCE, I think there is no such file by default.

  • I think it doesn’t matter what DE you use, I think its recommended to have that, but I guess you’re satisfied with your setup so maybe not matter. However, you try it and see if theres difference.

  • I changed pretty much all settings that the Xresource file could also do. Terminal colors, X11 mouse cursor, System Font etc. But I did not need this file.
