• Dont get Desktop upon fresh installation

    Hi Guys:

Installed Antergos-2013-05-x86_64 on Dell PC. Installation went OK, installed 2.5GB of stuff, Chose Razor-QT for desktop through Commandline installer. Installed GRUB2, configured and booted after install.

Scroll up through boot upon fresh install last shows Graphical desktop initialized or something. Leaves me at Command-line tty login, Upon login as root/user it is a read-only file system, cannot upgrade pacman -Sy package.

    Configure Xorg cannot write /etc/xorg.log.

Do I need to fix /etc/fstab.

    Thanks
    Alan

  • My /etc/fstab is empty, thats the reason I guess, Since I cannot write to /etc/fstab as it is a read-only system.

I may have to use install cd; chroot, and then create fstab. which command systemd-fstab-create, or genfstab?

  • Better genfstab which is the script provided by Arch Linux

I will check if something is wrong with the CLI Installer

  • Genfstab does not exist after chrooting from installation live cd

  • There’s no need to chroot to execute genfstab. Just mount your partitions and run:

    genfstab -U -p /mnt >> /mnt/etc/fstab

Check the generated file before rebooting

You could also create that file manually if genfstab doesn’t work, just open gparted, take a look at which partitions do you need and follow the schema

  • Alright I got it manually fixed, but unable to get wireless wifi connection now. I have a Belkin N70 wireless adapter, I get no n7515 driver for enp0s17u8 which I think is wlan0. How do I fix that, without which it is all useless

    Thanks

  • Is it a USB wireless card? Check if you have usbutils and usb_modeswitch
