    KDE won't boot

I’m able to boot up antergos, decrypt my hard drive but when I reach where the KDE splash screen should appear I can only see the cursor and a black background. KDE does not load.

Using ctrl + alt + F2 I was able to enter tty2 and access the console. I can login from here.

I thought perhaps the issue was that I was behind on an update so I tried to connect to wifi nearby to run Pacman -Syu - I was able to detect the access point however I was unable to connect to it (using wifi-menu, getting ‘connection failed’).

This all happened randomly today, I have not changed any settings, deleted any files or updated anything, simply today KDE wouldn’t boot.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

If you are still in need of help, did you try installing a new display manager? I know I had problems with LightDM recently and had to move over to SDDM. If you are using LightDM you can disable it with:

    sudo systemctl disable lightdm

    You can install SDDM with

    sudo pacman -S sddm

And you can enable SDDM with:

    sudo systemctl enable sddm
