• Numix icons do not display

    Rebooted my laptop yesterday and Numix icons are replaced by default Adwaita. There have been a lot of updates in the last few days, not sure what happened.

    I reinstalled Numix theme with Yaourt, didn’t help. Choosing any of the 6 Numix themes doesn’t help, Adwaita stays on.

    I run i3 and Openbox. Icons default to Adwaita on both.

    Any ideas?

  • I just did a fresh install of Openbox Sunday and they are working for me. This is the location for it on my system.
    locate Numix-Square
    /usr/share/icons/Numix-Square

    $ ls -l /usr/share/icons/Numix-Square

  • I have them there but they don’t get displayed. Both PCManFM and Thunar show default Adwaita icons.

  • The fix is to uninstall infinality if you have it installed as its no longer needed and a recent update breaks the Infinality packages. To fix it do the following:

    sudo pacman -S --asdeps freetype2 cairo fontconfig

    Then edit your /etc/pacman.conf and remove Infinality. The run:

    sudo /usr/bin/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

    And relog.

  • I get an error when I run pacman -S --asdeps freetype2 cairo fontconfig

    The error:

    error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: lib32-cairo-infinality-ultimate: removing cairo-infinality-ultimate breaks dependency ‘cairo-infinality-ultimate’
    :: lib32-fontconfig-infinality-ultimate: removing fontconfig-infinality-ultimate breaks dependency ‘fontconfig-infinality-ultimate’
    :: lib32-freetype2-infinality-ultimate: removing freetype2-infinality-ultimate breaks dependency ‘freetype2-infinality-ultimate’

  • I followed this post to replace infinality, edited pacman.conf and then

    sudo /usr/bin/gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

    as @rakeron suggests. Fixed.
