In recent times, it seems like the main Arch repo has had faster updates to Cinnamon compared to Antergos. Can someone explain to me why Antergos is still maintaining their own builds of Cinnamon? is it even worth it/beneficial at this point?
Why is Antergos maintaining their own Cinnamon build?
Sorry I missed this. I think the reason you got the impression that our cinnamon packages lagged behind Arch on updates is that out-of-sync mirror. Our Cinnamon packages have never lagged behind the packages in Arch, not even once. In fact, they are typically ahead of the Arch packages. How far ahead varies, it can be anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks.
I’d love to have a bit more of a technical reason though out of curiosity.
I guess what I’m saying is why bother with extra work if Arch already supplies the packages?
