• So Antergos were porting alpm to work with packagekit 0.8?

I was reading the Arch mailing list when I found this: [https://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch-general/2014-March/035636.html][0]">[https://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail][1] … 35636.html

The guys at Antergos started the port of the alpm backend to 0.8 but it
seems it’s a lot more work than first anticipated.

Is work still going on this?
With alpm properly ported to more recent packagekit would GNOME Software finally work in Arch?

  • Hi,

This is in our TODO list, but other things had priority over this. Cnchi (Antergos Installer) is taking more time than we anticipated…

Alex (one of Antergos devs) did some work on this, but a lot more is needed.

But the short answer is that we will be working on it asap.

By the way, if you know C you could help us!

And yes, gnome-software is using packagekit, so it would work in Antergos…

    Cheers!

You have no idea how I wish I did.
I presume extensive knowledge of C is required, right? Or can a beginner to intermediate programmer help in any way? Not that I’m either

I was just asking because as of right now GNOME Software isn’t in the Arch repos and apparently you guys are Arch’s only hope
