• HP LaserJet printer doesn't show

    Hi there,

first the HP Manager, which comes installed with Antergos doesn’t start.

I used hp-setup -i to set up a printer, which worked, but the printer is unavailble for any other application.

Might be because it is instaled under root?

No idea how to fix it. HPLIBs are installed.

  • OK, printer shows up in application but not in Firefox.

HP Print Manger is still a no go, my wife is very much used to it and I really want it running for her.

    Help!!! :-)

  • @dirkme
hi, i just tried to run my hp manager and it doesn’t worked either, try to run hp-toolbox through terminal and paste the output here, maybe someone with experience can help you.
There is another print-manager in pamac, maybe it can fulfil your needs.
    Good luck!

    hp-toolbox
You just nailed it. The out put from hp-toolbox was pty5 and the “python-pyqt5” file was fixing the issue.

Thank you so much for your help

  • I also had the problem that hp device manager did not recognise my hp laserjet printer and the solved it after installing the package hplip-plugin

  • @fernandomaroto yes, nice and easy. Thanks to your help. :-)

So, mentioning about HPLIBS helped you?

  • python-pyqt5 was installed as a dependency through the installation of hplip-plugin

  • I have this problem with an HP printer. Chrome and Libreoffice show the printer, but firefox does not. Anyone have any ideas?

  • @dukenukem I found the below link as I was having the same problem. It is the restart firefox printer setting. I guess you go into about:config to take care of this. This fixed the issue for me.
