• Rankmirrors fails on ranking antergos mirrorlist

    How can I rank my Antergos mirrorlist because it seems that rankmirrors doesn’t recognize the URL format in the antergos-mirrorlist file?

    Here’s what I did:

    $ sudo pacman -S antergos-mirrorlist
    $ rankmirrors -n 0 /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist > /tmp/antergos-mirrorlist && sudo cp /tmp/antergos-mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d

    Before running the rankmirrors, I made sure that the new Antergos mirrorlist didn’t contain a “.pacnew” file extension. However, rankmirrors returns the following error:

    URL '' is malformed.

    Just for the heck of it, I copied the content of my Arch mirrorlist file (/etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist) and pasted it to my antergos-mirrorlist file, replacing all the original lines after which I ran the rankmirrors again. That time it got finished without problems.

    Correct If I’m wrong but hasn’t the rankmirrors worked also for the Antergos mirrorlist in the past? Since when it has only supported Arch mirrorlist?

    No, you aren’t wrong. Rankmirrors worked for antergos-mirrorlist in the past. It continues to work now:

    # rankmirrors -n 0 /etc/pacman.d/antetest-mirrorlist > /etc/pacman.d/antetest-mirrorlist-ranked
    #

    Probably your antergos-mirrorlist actually has a line with malformed Server = URL.

  • @just

    I have attached my antergos-mirrorlist file. It is the newest one, updated today (antergos-mirrorlist-20161107-1) but I can’t find any malformed line from it.

    Are you able to rank this newest mirrorlist without errors?

    Edit: I guess the file attaching doesn’t work so I copied the content here: http://pastebin.com/pLxbX9J8

    It’s very strange. The error in antergos-mirrorlist is too evident:

    ...
    # USA
    #--just modded
    #--Server = http://mirrors.tuxns.net/antergos  <== malformed
    Server = http://mirrors.tuxns.net/antergos/$repo/$arch
    #--
    Server = http://mirror.us.leaseweb.net/antergos/$repo/$arch
    ...

    And then:

    $ rankmirrors -n 0 /1st/tmp/antemirr > /1st/tmp/antemirr-ranked
    $

  • @just Ha, I totally missed that line :blush: It’s working now. Many thanks, just!

    You’re welcome. Hopefully, if @lots.0.logs or @karasu are not too busy in this period, they will note this thread and correct the antergos-mirrorlist. Leaving [Unsolved] mark for a while.

  • Fixed it. Should be a new antergos-mirrorlist update in a few hours (depending on the mirror you use).

    Thanks both!
