• Keyboard is not working on login screen!?

I just suspended the system and after a while I tried to start the system from suspension. Then I see that my keyboard is not working to enter my password in order to log in. My keyboard is working in tty mode. I think that before suspension I had few updates. I updated system by “sudo pacman -Syy” and “sudo pacman -Su” in tty mode, but it didn’t lead to a point.

This issue has a solution now: https://forum.antergos.com/topic/5180/login-issue-with-lightdm-webkit-greeter-not-accepting-user-input

  • After typing the following codes,

    sudo pacman -S gdm
    sudo systemctl disable lightdm
    sudo systemctl enable gdm
    sudo systemctl stop lightdm
    sudo systemctl start gdm

some applications like "synapse’ and “gnome-pie” are not working. I can not start the application even. Do these changes have significant effect on applications.

You don t even need them. Gnome pie is a launcher and Synapse to search. But Gnome has already got its pwn search tool.

The dirtiest of work around, no cli required:

Drag the burger button (blue button, top right of your screen) in the password field. You will (magically?) gain focus and be able to type your password.

I have to do it twice to make it work, my collegue only has to do it once.

I just had the same problem and after trying that e few times it worked. Now I would like to find out what exactly happened, since afterwards I had to restart the desktop (using Cinnamon), because otherwise I would have had only a gray background and couldn’t change it back to anything else.
I already thought that the problem was the warning from the last days while updating the system “gtk-theme-adapta: local (3.21.263-1) is newer than antergos (3.21.2.1-1)”. Yesterday I used packer -Syu for update so I thought something incompatible was installed, but the warning still pops up.
So, what could I do to find out, what went wrong and how to prevent it to happen again?
I had that problem a month ago and fixed it with a restart. Now even the restart didn’t help.

  • The drag and drop approach works for me, but these issues with LightDM are really annoying. Every update a big major bug.

  • Here is a fairly simple solution/workaround that will fix the issue temporarily until the final fix is provided by LightDM or GNOME.

  • @MichaelTunnell While I was updating my antergos, I noticed there is a update for “lightdm-webkit2-greeter”. Probably it’s been solved?

  • @sina I updated the system and lightdm works properly.
