• Pamac on KDE with HiDPi monitor (4K) - how to change scale factor?

This is how Pamac is displayed compared to the properly displaying Firefox. Icons are super small and its overall look and usability is awful.

How can I change the DPI/scale factor for Pamac (and other GTK3 apps, which have the same problem)?

  • Have you tried to change the font size for GTK applications? You can do this under:
System Settings- Application style- GNOME application style (GTK)
Here you can also change the default style for all GTK based applications and Icon theme.

    Never to old to learn.

  • Hi zorza,
Create and edit a file in /etc/profile.d/ using nano

    sudo nano /etc/profile.d/gtk3-hidpi.sh

and add these lines to it

    export GDK_SCALE=2
    export GDK_DPI_SCALE=0.5

Then press Ctrl + O and then Enter to save the file and Ctrl + X to exit nano.
The first line scales the ui by 2 and the second one undoes the text scaling. These lines scale the ui by a factor of 2. If you want to use another factor then just enter that into the first line and enter its reciprocal in the second line.
After this, logout and log back in for the changes to take effect.

  • @ambareeshbalaji Works like a charm! Thank you very much!

  • My pleasure :)
