• matlab r2016a and antergos

I was so happy because I finally install linux (antergos) in my PC, because I hate Windows 10.
But a simple thing cut my happiness, MTLAB DOES NOT WORK, this is the log file

    /usr/local/MATLAB/R2016a/bin/matlab-glselector.sh: línea 68: /tmp/matlab.nan.need_softwareopengl.log: Permiso denegado
MATLAB is selecting SOFTWARE OPENGL rendering.
/usr/local/MATLAB/R2016a/bin/glnxa64/MATLAB: error while loading shared libraries: libncurses.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

And I dont found a real answer, just

$ sudo cp -av libcufft.so.7.5.18 libmwservices.so /opt/matlab/R2016a/bin/glnxa64/ and does not work

You may try linking /usr/lib64/libncursesw.so.6 to MATLAB_INSTALL_PATH/bin/glnxa64/libncurses.so.5.

WHAT??? I dont know what does this guy is trying to say with LINK??? because Im not a pro linux user,

and many many solved but really I dont see the answer…

If you can’t help me I must return to WINDOWS, because I need some MATLAB lIbraries.

  • Hi @Alejandro-Munoz

It seems that MATLAB needs ncurses5 but in Antergos, you always have the latest library version (in this case ncurses6).

To make sure you have ncurses6:
    sudo pacman -S ncurses

But the problem remains, and is that MATLAB needs version 5.

To install version 5 (from AUR):
    yaourt -S ncurses5-compat-libs

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi karasu, thanks for the help, but the yaourt say that

The fingerprint of a specified key could not be determined…or in spanish

ERROR: ¡Una o más firmas PGP no pudieron ser verificadas!
==> ERROR: Makepkg no ha podido compilar ncurses5-compat-libs.

I google it but no one works

    I try with pacman-key --refresh-keys…and again is a no

    thanks for the help again…

  • Try this before the yaourt command:

    gpg --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 702353E0F7E48EDB
  • All good, thank you very mucho karasu for your help, works nice…👍
