• No sound on Antergos!

I cannot for the life of me figure out why my sound through my speakers aren’t working. If I plug in my headset, I hear just fine and have no issues. For my speakers, in pavucontrol the bar moves as if sound is playing, but no sound will come out of my speaker set.

    My specs are the following:

    AMD FX-9370 4.4GHz 8-Core Processor
    Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
    Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
EVGA GeForce GTX 960 Video Card (This card is in the third PCIe slot and is passed through to a windows virtual machine)
EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Video Card (This card is in the first PCIe slot and handles 3 monitors for the linux experience.)

I am running a fully updated Antergos Distro.

I have a successful passthrough that I am tinkering with, but the Windows machine does not get sound unless I passthrough my headset

Running lspci -nn shows the following results:

Looking into alsamixer shows nothing muted and I can’t seem to figure out what the problem could be… Any other information I can give?

  • @salmetore Do you have Pulseaudio and Pulse-Alsa installed? If not do so and check the settings again. Some aplications work better with Pulse.
Also make sure you have the correct setting in Pulseaudiovolume control - configuration. Choose the correct Build-in profile.

    Never to old to learn.

  • Yea… Both packages are installed, and I have the right profiles checked… After playing in the bios, and playing with distros, including Windows, I had no sound on any of those OSes, even with the right drives… My onboard audio died, and have a replacement sound card on the way. Thank you for your support.
