• Video is fine during install routine - rubbish upon reboot (tp w500)

    Thinkpad W500 with ATI FireGL 5700 (HD3650)

I boot off the live CD and everything is fine at 1920x1200. When reboot, the display output is recognizable, but there is a perpetual moving/blinking moire type pattern underneath everything…not sure what issue is.

I have successfully installed all different flavors of Linux on this laptop with no issue, including Manjaro.

Not sure if it matters, but I chose KDE.

    Any ideas?

Hi. Have you tried the lts kernel?
    sudo pacman -S linux-lts
    and regenerate your grub
    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    before rebooting.
