• Impossible change avatar and background in SDDM login manager

    KDE settings dont work.
Any idea to solve these problems?

  • Change avatar:
You can simply put a png image named username.face.icon into the default directory /usr/share/sddm/faces/.

For SDDM background, open login screen SDDM (Open krunner and type sddm)
Select your theme and at the bottom of the customize theme window you should see an option for background. Click it and change to whatever you like.

  • Thank you for your post, bmeister.

Account details module in KDE settings has an option to change SDDM avatar but it does not work. Why? Antergos bug? KDE bug?

SDDM background change in KDE settings does no effect too. Bug?

Manually move a png file to the indicated folder is not a good way to do a basic setting change like this. I think this is an usability issue.

True, but like it or not, this is the way to go according to the Arch Wiki…

  • Avatar change does not work on any KDE plasma distro that I tested (Manjaro, Kubuntu, Fedora, Sparky). I think this is an usability issue from KDE user manager, but someone in KDE bugzilla said thiis can be an home permission issue.
