• Unable to Change Icon of an Icon

Using GNOME 3.20.2, I select any icon for a file or directory.

    • Right-click, select Properties.
    • Click the ICON image.

The windows which opens to select a new icon is unusable, cannot select anything on the left-side and cannot browse anything. Even the [Cancel] button does not work. Cannot drag and move the window.

Only thing that works is hitting the ESC key to close the window.

Anyone else able to reproduce this?

  • @reefland The issue was already discussed in the Nautilus freeze when trying to change icon thread 10 days ago. Apparently, the issue is not fixed yet. The proposed workaround to change icons in Gnome is to use Nemo. Nemo may be also set as a default file manager in Gnome, to be used everywhere instead of Nautilus.

  • My problem does appear to be a duplicate of the thread you references. Thanks.
