• Unable to rank mirrors, reflector errors out

    Hi,

    I was trying to rank the Arch and Antergos mirrors, because download speed has fallen, but when I run reflector I get the following error -

    [[email protected] pacman.d]$ reflector -l 50 -f 20 --save /tmp/mirrorlist.new && rankmirrors -n 0 /tmp/mirrorlist.new \> /tmp/mirrorlist && sudo cp /tmp/mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d
    error: failed to retrieve mirror data: (<urlopen error [Errno -2] Name or service not known>)

    [[email protected] pacman.d]$ reflector -l 50 -f 20 --save /tmp/mirrorlist.new && rankmirrors -n 0 /tmp/mirrorlist.new \> /tmp/mirrorlist && sudo cp /tmp/mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d
    '>' does not exist.

    I tried running it twice, the first error seems like some url error, but then the second error which says ‘>’ does not exists, i dont understand, is there some mistake in the command?

    Thanks for your help with this.

  • Can anybody offer any suggestions, much appreciated.

  • There’s no " \ " before “>”. You also need to run it as root.

    sudo reflector -l 50 -f 20 --save /tmp/mirrorlist.new && rankmirrors -n 0 /tmp/mirrorlist.new > /tmp/mirrorlist && sudo cp /tmp/mirrorlist /etc/pacman.d

    :+1: .
