• Installing with SSD \[Solved\]

    Hi,

I’m currently using Linux Mint but am thinking about trying out Anrergros.

At the moment I have root installed on an SSD with my home folder on a spinning disk… looking at the arch installer it looks like it will be pritty easy for me to repeat this set up, because the GUI is so much like ubiquity etc…

But my question is about weather I need to make any tweeks after installation to allow for the fact that I’m using an SSD.

When I first installed mint I followed instructions like these to configure my system for SSDs: [http://namhuy.net/1563/how-to-tweak-and-optimize-ssd-for-ubuntu-linux-mint.html][0]">[http://namhuy.net/1563/how-to-tweak-and][1] … -mint.html

Will anything similar be needed for Anrergros?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    Tim

P.S. I first heard about Anrergros on the Linux Action Show… Easy set up, Cinnamon out the box, rolling release with up-to-date packages from the AUR made Anrergros sound like a very compelling proposition!

  • Hi,

i am using Antergos on a SSD. I only edit my fstab like this

    UUID… /boot ext2 noatime,nodiratime,rw,errors=remount-ro 0 1
    UUID… /home ext4 noatime,nodiratime,nodev,nosuid 0 2

This should prevent the system keeping track of which file has been read.

The link you have posted has a lot of more recommendations but everyone must decide for himself what to use.

  • Hi!

Cnchi (our installer) will detect your SSD drive automatically and apply the appropriate settings. This is done in the background if you choose Automatic Installation. If you opt for Advanced Installation (where you create your own partition layout), you will see a small check box labeled “SSD” that will be automatically selected for you. If you have any problems during install or have questions, please let us know. Welcome to Antergos!

    Best Regards,

  • Thanks Dustin,

That’s a REALLY nice touch! I think I might give Antegrose a roll over the weekend.

Just one other question, I noticed there is a bug with OpenVPN when running cinamon: [http://bugs.antergos.com/index.php?do=details&task_id=21][0]">[http://bugs.antergos.com/index.php?do=d][1] … task_id=21 any one know if this has been resolved yet?.. (I know it’s not really an Antegrose problem, just wondering if anyone has experience of it.)

  • oh thats cool!!
My installation is still from the first Antergos-ISO you have released.

  • I use Cinnamon as my primary desktop but I don’t use any VPN connections so I can’t say for sure. However, if I had to guess I would say it is probably fixed by now. Bugs like that usually don’t go unfixed for long because the Arch community is very active when it comes to bug reporting.

    Cheers!

  • Ok, that’s cool.

Guess I had better sign up for the Arch forums aswell.
