I am trying to set a photo as the background in Gnome; however no matter what I do it is always end up in the wrong orientation; i.e. on it side.

I have tried using shotwell to rotate and crop it; as the Gnome Photo does not give the option to do so. The photo now shows as the write orientation in Files. However when I try to set it as the background it always ends up in the original orientation. I have checked and double check that I am selecting the write file.

I am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? How can I get the photo on the background to be in the write orientation? Also, I would like a simple solution that can be repeated by my wife.

Thank you
