Hi guys and gals,

If Bumblebee doesn’t exist in the system, these steps will install it. If exists but is broken or malconfigured, will fix it. Otherwise, will not hurt the system in any way.

  1. Enable [multilib] repo

  2. Fully upgrade the system

    yaourt -Syua

  3. Install Bumblebee

    sudo pacman -S bumblebee mesa xf86-video-intel nvidia lib32-nvidia-utils lib32-virtualgl lib32-mesa-libgl nvidia-settings bbswitch

  4. Add yourself and other regular users to bumblebee group

    sudo gpasswd -a $USER bumblebee

  5. Enable bumblebeed service. May be skipped if p.6 will be executed

    sudo systemctl enable bumblebeed.service

  6. Install power saving patch

    sudo pacman -U /path/to/package/bumblebee-3.2.1-11-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

With the patch installed, pacman will issue the warning on subsequent upgrades; it may be safely ignored:

warning: bumblebee: local (3.2.1-11) is newer than community (3.2.1-10)

  7. Reboot the system

    sudo shutdown -r now
