• HP Device Manager won't run. Error when running in Konsole

When I click on “HP Device Manager” in my applications menu, nothing happens. Running (hp-setup command, specifically) from konsole produces this:

Copyright © 2001-15 HP Development Company, LP

error: HPLIP is not installed properly or is installed without graphical support. Please reinstall HPLIP
    warning: Qt/PyQt 4 initialization failed.
error: hp-setup requires GUI support (try running with --qt3). Also, try using interactive (-i) mode.

Is there a fix for this?

  • Had a user on Google+ help me out. Turns out these dependencies were not installed when initially installing HPLIP from the Live USB. Running this command fixed the issue:

    yaourt -S pyqt4-common pything2-pyqt4 python-pyqt4

These packages should have been installed initially when selecting “Printer Support” in the live USB installation wizard. I’m going to submit a bug about this.
