• BUG HUNTERS NEEDED: Cnchi v0.6 RC2 \*Updated 4/16/14\*

Something is broken in Arch: I have installed antergos-XFCE in virtualbox, and activated there automatic login. After installation I get login window, and can’t login. Password I did not forgot. Any solutions?

  • I am not sure if this is a problem with arch or with cnchi package selection. Verify that you have all needed packages:

sudo pacman -S xfce4 --needed --noconfirm

    Let me know the result.

    Cheers!

  • Hello all!

Im trying to install the Antergos Testing Image 32bit with KDE now for a while, but I’m always getting the same error. It happens natively on an older Notebook as well as in Virtual Machine.

While it is downloading the packages at some point i get:

    Antergos Installer - Error
Cant download and install the necessary packages.

What other info do you need to kill the bug?
I hope we can figure this out soon, I would love to see Antergos KDE finally on my machine

    Martin

  • Hi,

First, ensure you are using the latest version by exiting the installer and using the testing.sh script (link is on the OP). That will automatically update the installer and relaunch it. If you get the error again, post the contents of “/tmp/cnchi.log” here.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks, it worked ! I thought the latest testing image also contains the latest Cnchi… .

But now there is a nother problem. I cant login, and the login screen doesnt feel like KDE at all

    Martin

  • That’s strange. Are you able to log in from command prompt (Press Ctrl+F2). It’s possible that your user account was not created during installation. If that’s the case then it will be the first time we’ve seen it happen. Please let me know the result so we can find the problem and fix it for you

EDIT: If you cant log in with your user, try root. If that works post the content of /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log, /var/log/lightdm/x-0-greeter.log, and /var/log/cnchi.log.

    Best Regards,

  • using 0.5.13 booted fine on a dell d610 laptop P(M)1.7Ghz/1Gb w/intel video. Default gnome/use whole disk. Install went smoothly with no issues. After reboot-had to install firmware for broadcom wireless. Volume/mute buttons work.

  • Hi,

@antmart: The error you’re having in lightdm (no user shown) is in a Virtualbox VM ?

@maxpro4u: For the broadcom, which packages did you have to install? Cnchi should take care of that. Could you post your vendor id and your product id? (a lspci -nn will suffice).

    Thanks!

  • I installed b43-firmware. Here is output-

P.S.: Hey, it sure would be nice for someday down the road (not now of course, you guys are all much too busy!) for somebody to fix the spellcheck capability for this forum with Firefox. As you know, Firefox has a builtin spellcheck facility, but it doesn’t work with this forum for some reason.

[/quote:5ujnrmau]In the past it didn’t work in Chome either, but it started working just recently. I havent looked into the issue yet but I’ll add it to my list

You have fixed this already, Dustin. Such quick work!
    Thank you!

    Warm regards, Bill

  • Yesterday I have made a system-upgrade in antergos MATE under virtualbox.
Now terminal’s command “pacman -Syu” can’t resolve the mirror list. Where is the problem? Is there a bug?

  • HI,

Please post the error message as well as the contents of /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist

    Cheers!

  • Hi Freecaster,

I don’t mean to be rude, but could you start a new thread with your issue?

    Thanks!

  • I am assuming @freecaster posted here because the testing version of Cnchi was used. It’s probably a good idea to create a sub forum for things pertaining to Cnchi testing. I will see if we can do that. I’m also going to lock this topic I believe its long enough.
