• Shutdown is not powering off...

When I click shutdown icon on my Lenovo Y510P laptop… it shuts down but does not power off.

    1. If click “power off” icon from the greeter screen (lightdm) - powers off no problem.
    2. If I click “power off” icon within gnome, it gets to “[ OK ] Reached target Shutdown”… does not power off.
    3. If I run “shutdown” from command line - same behavior has #2.

    Ideas?

  • faststart up disabled?
    Try:
    systemctl poweroff -i
    and/or systemctl reboot -i
    and/or systemctl poweroff
    and/or systemctl reboot
    and/or systemctl --force poweroff
and/or adding shutdown" to the hooks in the mkinitcpio.confand then remaking the initramfs

I have the shutdown hook enabled in my machine. Works great for myself. Try the above suggestions first before you add to the conf file.
    mkinitcpio
That link will also tell you how to regenerate that config file.

  • It is a very good post, I will keep on steadily.

  • I tried these:

    systemctl poweroff -i
    and/or systemctl poweroff

Hangs at “[ OK ] Reached target Shutdown”… does not power off.

    and/or systemctl reboot -i
    and/or systemctl reboot

    Reboots just fine.

    and/or systemctl --force poweroff

This poweroff… but I did not see any shutdown progression… This doesn’t seem safe.

I’ll keep this in mind, thanks for the tip.
