• Using and upgrading the LTS Kernel, but now receiving Linux "normal" Kernel Update

    Hello guys!

Im using Antergos Mate with the LTS Kernel on an old Dell D630. Runs fantastic. Pacman always upgrade my LTS Kernel to the new LTS one, but since two days ago im receiving the “normal” Kernel update. The solution is just to skip that update?

    Thank you!

    Antergos XFCE - Asus E-11
    Xubuntu 16.04.4 LTS - Dell D630
Puppy Linux Precise 5.7.1 - Asus 701 EEEpc

  • You can have both installed (I’m sure you have).

It’s ok to update them. The important thing is with which one you boot.

    Cheers!

  • Thank you @karasu !

I have to rebuild the Grub for an entry for the other “normal” Kernel?

    it is necessary?

    Xubuntu 16.04.4 LTS - Dell D630
Puppy Linux Precise 5.7.1 - Asus 701 EEEpc

  • Both entries (“normal” and lts) should appear in your GRUB. Do they not show up?

  • I update the “normal” kernel without problems :), then reboot, but there is no entry on the GRUB for that. It only shows the Antergos LTS Kernel.

Puppy Linux Precise 5.7.1 - Asus 701 EEEpc

  • You should have both options on GRUB. Have you updated your GRUB so it can see both of them?
    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

  • That is @anarch ! now i see the two entries. Thank you guys 🙂 (@karasu gracias otra vez!)
