• Can't boot LiveUSB: Failed to set up loop device

    Hello,

macbookpro11,2 here. Trying to boot into a live USB. I created my live USB using the antergos-2015.10.18-x86_64 ISO I downloaded earlier tonight, and I followed the instructions for creating a live USB on Windows here.

Trying to boot into it for the first time:

    1. I restart my MBP, (holding the option key) and
    2. I choose EFI Boot from the first menu, and
    3. Then Antergos x86_64 UEFI CD from the next menu.

After that, I get some boot log entries on the screen, and then the screen goes white. When I hit escape, I get the boot log again, and the fallback shell, preceded by the following lines:

losetup: /run/archiso/bootmnt/arch/root-image.sfs: failed to set up loop device: No such file or directory
ERROR: '' device did not show up after 30 seconds...

    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

  • HI. I don’t own a mac but did come across this link here (2013): link text

Is there a disk utility on your mac? If there is would that work?
There is a second link here that is a bit more recent (2015) than the one above . link text
Hope this works. let us know.
