• how to install Firefox ESR in antergos

    hi,
    how to install firefox “esr” version in antergos plasma5 ( download is firefox-38.3.0esr.tar.bz2 ) ?

    (up from firefox 44 there is no way for running unsigned addons. So i want to take a look for another option)

    thanx for suggestions.

  • D/l it to home directory. Copy Firefox executable to /user/bin. I think this is right. Who can verify this?

    thanx, works like https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

    @Wyn

    “installer” from mozilla works. Is it more recommendable to use the package from aur? why?

    and, - there are two packages in aur: firefox-esr and firefox-esr-bin. Please, whats the different?

  • Provided that the maintainer of the AUR PKGBUILD keeps it updated on time then its better to use the AUR package because you wont have to check for updates yourself. The difference between the regular package and the -bin package is that the regular package will require you to build firefox from source (which, for a program like firefox will take quite a bit of time). The -bin version links to an already compiled binary so you don’t have to build it locally. That goes for any -bin packages you find in the AUR, btw.

    Cheers!

  • thanx for information, lots.0.logs
