• pacman gui's broken, but pacman still works

I have been using pacmanxg to install new packages on a fresh install yesterday, and everything is working fine. Today I try to start pacmanxg and when I meet this screen start-paxmanxg.png
The program just quits when I enter the root password. If “Run as Current User” the program wont let me install anything. I see this message when I try. Screenshot from 2015-09-25 07-58-44.png
I Can still use pacman just fine from the shell though. If I run any pacman comands as root they execute fine. I can look up a package name with pacmanxg and install it with the command line, so I am not SOL here, but I would like to be abel to debug whats going on. If I launch pacmanxg from the terminal as a regular user. It starts up fine.

    [[email protected] ~]$ pacmanxg

Any thoughts here? The behavior is just as strange with the “Add/Remve Software” applciaion that came with the install, but I would prefer to use pacmanxg.

  • Not a solution to the problem you asked about but have you tried pamac? after install you can use pamac-manager to run it. Most people seem to like it. Thoughts on that?

    yaourt -S pamac

  • @ajay SO you have run the pacmanxg as root? gksudo pacmanxg in a terminal or how do you start it?
I see you used the icon shortcut. try it from a terminal and post the output here.
