• More Desktop Environments to come?

    Hello

    I’d just like to know, if there are more DEs to come.
    The only one I’m missing is MATE but Unity or E17 would also be nice.
    And Razor-qt and KDE should also be divided into two different options.
    I don’t wanna urge you. I’d just like to know

    Sorry for my bad english

  • Razor-qt and KDE will be separate desktops, we have to figure it out some qt (non-kde-dependant) packages to use with razor-qt and then we’ll give you both options

    Other desktops to come are Openbox, E17 and Lxdm for sure. About Unity, the guy who’s porting it to Arch was helping us with some issues in our graphical installer and I asked him about the state of Unity on Arch and he told me that the situation is similar to what we had with Cinnamon and GNOME 3.8. He recommend me to include it when Unity is a more independent solution, so we’ll wait for that.

    I still have to take a look at the state of MATE

  • How’s KDE comming? I still can’t see it in the installer list.

  • I installed MATE with this repo:

    [mate]
    SigLevel = Optional TrustAll
    Server = [http://repo.mate-desktop.org/archlinux/$arch][0]">[http://repo.mate-desktop.org/archlinux/$arch][1]

    but in my opinion, mate is not as good as gnome2, and it has many bugs, which make it not usable for daily use.
