• Which DE for better battery life? Cinnamon or GNOME?

Hello, I am planning to install Antergos for the first time on a laptop. Which DE is more efficient on battery life? Cinnamon or GNOME?
Things to consider when answering my question:

    1. I know some other DEs have better “performance”, but I am only interested in these 2 stated above
    2. I am aware of TLP and I do plan to use that on this installation
My laptop is no slouch so it can handle both of these environments quite easily
      My Hardware:
      Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830T-6870
      Intel Core i5 2430M @ 2.4 GHz
      4GB RAM
      500GB 5400rpm HDD
  • I would say they are close. You can do things like dim screen when your not plugged in, shut screen off after x amount of time and so on. But i’d say with a similar workload they would perform pretty similarly .

Edit: This is all i can really find. It’s outdated but still i would say they will consume your battery about the same.
