• Screen dim on wake up from suspend

    Hey everyone!

    I installed antergos on my hp-ac042tu laptop. When I reopen the lid or when I wake the device up from suspension, I get the login screen. After login, the screen is extremely dim and unusable. I tried taking screenshots and they seemed to be at normal brightness when I checked later i.e. after rebooting the computer.

    How do I fix this?

  • Use xbacklight to set the brightness of your screen (e.g. try the command: xbacklight -set 60), if it works you can create a script in /etc/pm/sleep.d/ so that it’s automatically executed when resuming:

    sudo gedit /etc/pm/sleep.d/99-set-backlight.sh

    with this content:

    #!/bin/sh
    case “$1” in
    resume|thaw)
    export DISPLAY=:0
    xbacklight -set 60
    esac

    Other possible solutions:

    1. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/451282/comments/26

    2. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2038250&page=2&p=12269973#post12269973

    3. add acpi_backlight=vendor to Grub
