• \[SOLVED\] Error updating slim


    Hi,
    I tried to update system. I have Openbox edition. It shows error updating slim.

    sudo pacman -Syu
    
    error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)  
    slim: /usr/bin/slimlock exists in filesystem  
    slim: /usr/share/man/man1/slimlock.1.gz exists in filesystem  
    Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

  • Hi,

    Slimlock code has been added to slim, so slimlock is no longer necessary.

    You should first remove slimlock and then update will run without problems:

      
    sudo pacman -Rnsc slimlock  
    sudo pacman -Syu  
    
    

    It is strongly advised to avoid the --force or -f switch as it is not safe! (only use it if you really know what you’re doing).
