• New installs on 2 machines 32 & 64 bit. Wine not working on 64

Ok dont understand this one at all. I have 2 PC & a laptop. One PC running an old install & one fresh installed today. Both running 64 bit Antergos. The laptop fresh install today with 32 bit. All 3 are freshly installed with Wine-stable (1.6.2).

The laptop ran my game no problem, as both pc have in the past but both pc today on clicking the setup.exe say “internal error - failed to get path of 64 bit program files directory”. Why is it asking for 64 bit??? Why is it running fine on my 32 bit install??

    Ideas anyone?

  • Tried using Playonlinux to get round it. Did not get the message & game installed but just got black screen with no sound

  • OK, no one offered any ideas but I solved it myself. Here for anyone else is how i did it. I had Playonlinux & Wine-stable installed. Neither worked. I figured something must be missing so I installed Wine (1.7) which removes POL & Wine stable. Knowing that uninstalling doesn’t in fact remove many files & folders, I then reinstalled Wine-stable. Now my game installed correctly & works again.

    Happy
