• What is the correct way to install packages from AUR4?

I have antergos with xfce desktop. The default package manage/updater (pamac) has a toggle to enbale AUR. But that does not install from the new aur4.archlinux.org. Some packages I want to install does not have the latest version in aur.archlinux.org. Is there some way to change the AUR url to aur4? If I change to aur4 and install something. Will those continue to be updated once the doman changes back aur.archlinux?
I am aware that I can install using yaourt. But not sure if those packages will be automatically updated when pamac-updater updates the system.

  • I would argue that this would be a complete waste of time to worry about right now. Just use Yaourt to handle the AUR4 packages that you need, otherwise use AUR3 in the meantime.

    yaourt --aur-url https://aur4.archlinux.org -Syua

AUR4 is replacing AUR3 on https://aur.archlinux.org on August 8th, so it would be a huge waste of time and effort to me to worry about switching to AUR4 subdomain only to revert it again in less than a month.

  • Thanks. I am doing that now. But should I reinstall after the aug 9th so that yaourt -Syua updates it?

No need for that. The AUR4 subdomain will be replaced with the main AUR subdomain so if you just continue using the main subdomain then you will be fine with continuing to use it. All packages you have at the time will be checked against the new AUR version builds and if there is an update then you will get it just fine.

Essentially there really isnt a need to switch to the new AUR version or do anything once it becomes the main version.

Actually you mark it solved from within the Topic Tools dropdown menu located on the first post in the topic
