• Can't install necessary packages (with multiple DEs)

    Hello!
I currently have the 02/06 installation image of Antergos, and I attempted installation today. At first time, the installed had a problem about the download package list, as mentioned in this topic: http://forum.antergos.com/topic/1915/can-t-create-download-package-list
    Eventually, I got that working.
Midway through, I got another problem, now related to Errno 104 Connection reset by peer, as mentioned in this topic:
    http://forum.antergos.com/topic/2252/oh-no-something-has-gone-wrong-er
Again, I managed to work fine through the tips mentioned, and yet, I found myself with another error, this time at the end of the installation, refer to this topic: http://forum.antergos.com/topic/2391/installation-fails-can-t-install-necessary-packages-cnchi-can-t-continue
    for the actual problem.
I tried with 2 different DEs (Xfce and KDE, and 1 time with the no DE option) and I still get the same error. I can’t use another Live ISO since I’m currently bound to my actual USB one. I currently have GRUB installed on Windows, and since the installation can’t finish (and I don’t have any other USB to repair it) I’m stuck with the Live ISO from this Antergos image. Here’s the log: http://pastebin.com/gxhtcg2C

Hello past me exactly the same, I was more than two days trying to fix it, the problem was recording the USB flash drive and pull several dvd too. At the end you download the ISO in Windows 7 and I, as recommended, with USBwriter and everything went without any problems installing wonders that says that the packages can not be installed, well, it’s my experience.
Hopefully serve you and good luck!

  • Did you reboot prior to making the last attempt to install? It looks like you started the installer manually? The installer should have removed those bad mirrors that are listed in your logs but for some reason that did not happen. If you could try again on a fresh boot without manually starting the installer (let it start itself) and then post the logs that would be helpful. Thanks!

  • Yes, I did reboot. I can’t let the installer open manually, because it opens as an outdated version (0.0.13…) so it gives the “can’t create package download list” error, and when I force update on it through sudo pacman -Syy cnchi --force, the installation goes normal, until it gives the “Connection reset by peer” error. I attempted the Cinnnamon desktop today and it gave me the same error. Since I didn’t had another USB to use the new Live ISO, I used my SD card through an adapter, and mounted the minimal image on it.
And still, it gave me the same error, even with the updated cnchi installer.
I thought about formatting the SD card with the minimal image and install another distro so I can boot my Windows, but now the Live ISO of Antergos won’t even recognize it!
I’m currently re-attempting the installation with the Open Box DE, I’ll post a log if everything goes wrong (which I’m pretty sure it will).

  • Whoops, looks like my prediction was badly wrong. Installation went fine with the Open Box DE! I’m so happy. Grub also went fine and I can load into my Windows partition.
Did the usual method, removed some unnecessary USBs and speakers/headphones (due to that gnome-shell problem) forced update on cnchi and let the installation went on.

Probably because of a cnchi update, cause in this attempt I saw another option on the installation, Visual Effects.

Anyway, hope to have some fun in this distro. Wish you guys luck to support the community!
