• Installation fails

This is an install of the 64bit iso.

Loads of bad mirror comments in the cnchi file.

  • Hi,

It appears that the failure was caused by one of our mirrors. I just sent the owner an email regarding the issue. In the meantime you can complete your install by removing the following mirror from /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist

    http://mirror.finn.lu/$repo/$arch

  • With @lots-0-logs advice I would recommend making http://repo.antergos.info/$repo/$arch the first mirror in /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist

If that mirror fails there’s a serious problem.

    I7 [email protected]/32GB Ram/3440 x 1440 + 1440p/EVGA 1080 FTW/512GB SSD/2TB HD/Antergos Base w/ Plasma

  • @Wyn That would defeat the purpose of having mirrors  We don’t have unlimited bandwidth on any of our servers so we have to ensure we use our limited resources wisely

  • @lots.0.logs

How big are all the antergos packages combined?

    I7 [email protected]/32GB Ram/3440 x 1440 + 1440p/EVGA 1080 FTW/512GB SSD/2TB HD/Antergos Base w/ Plasma

  • @Wyn

It fluctuates (especially with the ISO’s). The minimum amount of space needed to mirror our repo and iso images is about 6G. It hovers between 5.8G and 7G depending on the development and testing going on at any given time.

  • @lots.0.logs

When I have some free time I’ll learn how to set up a mirror :+1:

I remember talk of torrenting updates among users. I believe it was an update aimed at Ubuntu once upon a time. Has Arch/Antergos ever considered such an approach?

  • @TheBuzzSaw Its a neat idea. Though it would only be effective for distributions with a large user base (like Ubuntu).

  • @lots.0.logs Thank you lots of logs. Your workaround worked perfectly and I’m now responding to you via my new, antergos distro that installed perfectly. :)

  • @lots.0.logs I did remove the following mirror from /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist:

    http://mirror.finn.lu/$repo/$arch

However, I get an error message stating the package list can’t be downloaded.

Then I ran ‘pacman -Syy’ with Cnchi stopped and I still get the following error:

    pacman -Syy
    :: Synchronizing package databases…
    core 122.8 KiB 512K/s 00:00 [######################] 100%
    extra 1734.3 KiB 2.19M/s 00:01 [######################] 100%
    community 2.7 MiB 1938K/s 00:01 [######################] 100%

    multilib 126.0 KiB 1355K/s 00:00 [######################] 100%
error: database ‘antergos’ is not valid (invalid or corrupted database (PGP signature))

This same error is persisting with all the test and release ISO files I have tried for weeks now.

I’m using a Intel Core 2 Duo Gateway laptop with 2GB of RAM.

    I’m currently using ISO ‘antergos-2015.06.03-x86_64.iso’.

    Thanks, Frank
