• "Oh no! Something has gone wrong" Error With Latest ISO Image

There is a new bug in gnome-shell that results in a crash during startup under certain conditions. This bug affects not only our Live ISO, it also affects installed systems (if the conditions are present). The following actions have been reported to prevent the crash from occurring:

    1. Detach any USB wireless dongles (including wireless peripherals and WIFI devices), headsets, and/or headphones from your system. You can reattach them after gnome-shell starts.
    2. Detach Wacom Tablet devices.
    3. If you are running a multi-monitor setup…yep, you guess it…unplug all but your primary monitor.
    4. If none of the above works, you should check for and install any available BIOS updates for your system.

The bug is currently being tracked here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/44548
If you are affected by this bug, be sure to vote for it so the developers can get an idea of its severity. I’ll update this topic with any important new developments as they occur.

    Cheers!

  • Gnome needs to release more often and not all at once. It causes all the tedious bugs.

  • This is not going to fix my problem. I have no wireless devices connected beyond my mouse and keyboard and no tablets connected. Your workarounds only apply to people who fit that criteria. I can’t install Antergos and I don’t fit that grouping. Since I checked the link you shared, I see I’m not the only one.

Thanks for all the hard work you are doing. I know the Antergos team wants to fix this and you are working hard to find a solution.

If you have a wireless mouse or keyboard then unplugging the dongle should allow you to bypass the issue. I will update the post to make it more clear that wireless refers to more than just WIFI devices.

    Cheers!

  • @lots.0.logs I unplugged everything from my pc but my mouse, keyboard, monitor, pc, network card and power. Ran through the setup for 5.05.26 x86 65bit and everything started in install. For the first time, I was excited. Then at 42% the installer crashed and gave me the following error.

    Antergos Installer Error
(Errno 104) Connection Reset By Peer

I rebooted and tried again but received a variety of errors. One was an error informing me that sda6, the partition I have market as root, couldn’t be formatted so the installer couldn’t continue. I hope the error message above helps you out. I’m pretty frustrated having to reinstall ubuntu again and again.

Update: I did look up this error message and it’s clearly an issue on your end. A few people have claimed to have waited six hours and then tried again with success. I don’t think I’m going to do that. I just need one, solid installer that works. It’s what we all want, right? Thanks.

I grabbed the last few lines of my log file although I’m sure this is the same error you have all been seeing.

  • @linux_mark :

Did you try to update you pacman database first? I see in the log that antergos.db is corrupted.

Try this (if you have the time):

    1. Boot from the testing iso
    2. Whait until Cnchi opens (Check that is at least version 0.8.100 or higher)
    3. Open a new terminal and update pacman databases (don’t do this in an installed system):
      sudo pacman -Syy
    4. Install

    Thanks for your patience.

    Cheers!

  • @karasu Karasu, yes, I have updated multiple times. It doesn’t help but thank you any way.

  • I got excited for a second when I saw a new iso dated 6.02. It also failed. cnchi.log

Url http://mirror.finn.lu/antergos/x86_64/antergos.db doesn’t seem to work from here. Mirror problem?

What I do not understand is why it doesn’t give an error:

  • @karasu It doesnt work for me either. It appears that they may have recently switched servers. Let’s wait 48 hours and if its still not reachable I will send them an e-mail.

  • Just to share my experience, here’s what I did. After booting the Antergos CD it said it was updating. Then I typed sudo pacman -Syy but after the update, cnchi simply disappeared, when launching it, nothing happened. Then I installed it with sudo -S cnchi and started with sudo cnchi and it installed fine. Well at the end I had the “usual” message “something went wrong with the bootloader… bla bla bla…” and I had to manually modify /etc/fstab. But now everything is up and running.

  • Any updates on successful installs of the latest version of Antergos? It would be great to hear that the Antergos team fixed the server issues.

Also, is there any difference between the iso on the main page vs. the one with the same date on the testing page?

  • @linux_mark Actually, most users are able to install without any issues. There is a bug in GNOME that is affecting some people which shows a white screen. Though all one has to do is press enter and then log in to the live session by clicking the antergos user. Regarding server issues, we havent had any on our end. Though there’s always times when mirrors will experience downtime. There’s nothing we can do about it unfortunately. Mirrors are volunteered (we dont pay for them, nor could we afford to). If you are up for it, please give it another go and if you still have trouble, create a new post here in the forum with the logs. You can find them in the /tmp directory of the live environment.

    Cheers!

  • I’m facing this problem with i686 iso only: I’m not able to install the system with it on any pc I try. The i686 iso only works with virtualbox.
No problems with x64 so far

  • I’ve had this “Oh no!” issue sine GNOME 3.16. I just press ENTER two to three times (each getting a white “Oh No” screen) and then I finally get the GDM login screen. I have no wireless, WIFI adapters or headset in my desktop.

But new to GNOME 3.18 is that after login I get a gray screen and no desktop. I have to press ESC key for my desktop to come up. Once I do that everything is fine.
