• Cannot install windows 8 over Antergos.

hello all i would like to replace Antergos with windows 8 . i have made a bootable usb via the dd command.

here is my command “sudo dd if=en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=4”

but when i go to boot from the usb it doesn’t boot to windows just straight back through to Antergos like i never ever told it to boot to my usb

i wish to install windows 8 on my toshiba satellite c55-b5302 and later instal antergos as a dual boot but first i need to install windows as the main OS can anyone help me fix this issue

  • This may sound trival, but is your BIOS setup to boot from the usb first?

Also, I think there may be more to it than just using the dd command. I remember having to jump through a bunch of hoops making a bootable Win 7 usb years back.

Maybe try the suggestions at this link.

  • You cannot use dd to create a bootable Windows USB. You need WinUSB.
