• sound not working on xfce after possibly a pulse audio split

Hi All a week or two ago my sound just stopped working. Sound for anything: youtube videos, videos on my local machine mp3 etc.

I believe it may be because pulse audio was split (however I have no idea which modules I would have to install).

I’ve run system update every day and pulse audio (default with xfce?) hasn’t been fixed. I’m not sure what else to try?

  • That’s strange. I use pulseaudio and haven’t experienced any issue.

Install pavucontrol (if you don’t have it already) and run it. Check your output device and also the volume of your devices.

Tell us if it helps or not.

    Cheers!

  • The only thing that got my sound working properly with Xfce is pnmixer-xfce4. Nothing else I tried seemed to work. This was over a year ago though so perhaps its not the same. I found something that worked I havent touched it since
