• Dual boot with Windows 8.1 Gummiboot

I installed Antergos on a HDD with windows 8.1 in UEFI mode with Gummiboot.
When I start my computer it boots directly into Antergos and in order to to use Windows, I have to change the order of the EFI boot in the BIOS menu (Lenovo y50-70) so that Windows boot manager will start before the Linux boot manager.

How can I make gummiboot open up a menu and allow me to boot windows without going to the BIOS every time?

  • Hi,

Try changing the timeout value in /boot/loader/loader.conf

    Thanks for the answer!
    The timeout property was missing.
However, I still don’t have windows 8.1 in the options. I probably have to add windows manually to the entries, but I’m not sure how.
    I don’t have the /boot/EFI/Microsoft directory.

  • Hmm…it should have auto-detected your Windows bootloader. Did you mount your exisiting EFI directory as /boot? What’s the output of:
    ls -Rl /boot?

I did not, I could not tell which partition was the EFI partition. Is there a way to recreate this? since I can boot to windows, I just have change the priority in the bios settings
