  • I usually check it using the lscpu command which I find more clear than /proc/cpuinfo.

    where the first line says that the OS is 64-bit (x86_64) and the second that it can run 32-bit and 64-bit OSes.

    Please do correct if I am wrong or if the lines can be explained better or more properly!
