• Broadcom BCM4312 Chip Wireless Driver Problem

The packages ‘b43-fwcutter’ & ‘broadcom-wl’ were both automatically installed during Antergos installation, however my wireless connection sometimes works and sometimes don’t.

At first I thought it was because wl & b43 was conflicting each other, so I removed ‘broadcom-wl’ package, but the problem still exists. Then, I removed b43 and reinstalled wl but it’s still the same.
After that I moved back to b43 and tried blacklisting wl, brcmsmac & bcma, I also installed ‘rfkill’ to make sure it’s not physical switch problem, but it’s still the same. Sometimes I have to reboot several times to get my wireless connection working.

    So, any ideas?

    Hi,
Post here the result of lspci -nnn please ;)

  • I also have experienced unstable connections with broadcom wifi cards on linux. I only notice this behaviour on some routers. (Macbook Pro 8,1: BCM4331)
There is a section called “Connection is unstable with some routers” in the Arch Wiki page about broadcom wifi: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Broadcom_wireless#Connection_is_unstable_with_some_routers
The LTS kernel did not help in my case however… :(

I would also be interested in other possible solutions since this issue is persistent.

  • Hi,

Since kernel 3.3, the brcmsmac module actually uses bcma, so bcma needs to be unblacklisted or the Wi-Fi interface will not appear.

So, are you using b43 right now? (a lsmod should confirm it).

Please, issue a dmesg | grep b43 to see if the driver is complaining about something.
