• [Solved] Cnchi stuck at installing kdeartwork-iconthemes due to extraction failure (?)

When installing antergos on a dual boot machine, cnchi gui gets stuck at installing kdeartwork-iconthemes and outputs the “cannot install necessary packages.” The log outputs hundereds of errors of this format:

  • Tried the cli installer and it fails when trying to mount the root partition.

  • Hi,

Obviously Cnchi fails to write the files that come with the kdeartwork-iconthemes package.

    1. Could you post the full log? You can post it in https://gist.github.com if you prefer it.
    2. If you’re so kind, could you try again and, when the installation fails, run a df -h to see in which state are your mounted partitions?

Oh, I’m sorry about the CLI installer, is no longer maintained and it will be removed with the next Cnchi release, 0.8

  • Here’s my cnchi.log:

I think my root dir may have been too small. I’m trying the install again and I suspect it to work this time.

That was my first thought when I read your issue. Definitely sounds like you ran out of space. For KDE, I recommend a root partition of at least 10GB. Though, IMO, the root partition should never be smaller than 20GB. You should always leave yourself some extra space so you don’t fill it up in a few months and have to mess with resizing partitions!

    Cheers!

  • @lots.0.logs That’s why I asked for a df
