• Cinnamon-git aur (just a friendly note)

I upgraded cinnamon to the git version which is 1.9.1 an it runs great also removes alot of gnome packages, the only thing the is needed that it tells you to remove is gnome-bluetooth mark it as explictly installed an all is well. You will also need to change your login manager config file to use cinnamon-session instead of gnome-session-cinnamon. happy arching,

  • Nice! Thanks for the tip. Have you had any stability issues or is it an improvement? I am curious to see if cinnamon performs better on its own rather than strapped to gnome.

  • The only problem I had was after install it orphans alot of gnome packages so I removed them, then it started crashing to 2d version. After that just to get the error I did cinnamon -replace in terminal an it was missing some libgnome-bluetooth.so file so I installed gnome-bluetooth and its been rock solid.

A side note when you remove the gnome packages such as gnome-shell you wil need to install a login manger because gdm is a dependancy, myself I installed lightdm with the lightdm-gtk-greeter an set the config file to match my desktop theme.

this is all the gnome related files I have installed now, just 17.
