• XFCE Issues

In this screenshot you can see a line at the bottom, it hapens when I use plank and after the xfce 4.12 update. There is a way to fix it?

  • Hi,

I’m sorry I don’t know why the line appears, could be the driver, the compositor, plank settings, … ;)
Do you have the compositor enabled or disabled? (In settings->window manager tweaks->compositor)

  • Hi, Thanks.
Yes, the compositor is enabled. Just unmark the option -show window shades- and the line is off.
Still I have doubt about why sometimes my windows turns transparent.
    Have a nice day.

  • This post is deleted!
  • How can I get to lock the screen? I’ve installed slock but How it works?

  • HI,

If you are using Whisker Menu (installed by default in ANtergos) you simply click the Power Icon which will show you a few options–one of which will be locking the screen.

    Cheers!

  • Doing that… the screen turns off, tapping the touchpad is on, but just black. got to restart the ldmanager.

  • Please post the journal logs as well as the lightdm logs after the issue occurs. There should be a clue as to what the problem is in the logs.

    Cheers!

  • Okay, I think I have an idea of what the issue is. Our greeter theme does not currently support logging into existing sessions. In your case it appears that it attempts to start a new session but for whatever reason the xfce session mgr fails. I will try to work on adding support for open session logins to the greeter ASAP. In the meantime, I’m curious if you would have this issue using the gtk greeter:

    sudo pacman -S lightdm-gtk3-greeter

Then edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf and replace webkit greeter with gtk3 greeter.

    Cheers!

  • I’ve tried to install the gtk3-greeter, but terminal says “destiny not found”. My system is updated.

  • Sorry, I gave you the wrong package name. It’s actually lightdm-gtk-greeter

  • Hi there.
    still the same.
screen off, then black and need to restart lightdm.service.

  • Yeah, thats what I suspected. If using the lockscreen for hibernate/suspend is important to you, I recommend installing a screensaver that supports it. Though since I dont use the feature, I am not sure what works and what doesn’t. Sorry! Perhaps someone else will have some input.

  • I’ve seen that line issue with Docky on Xfce before. I was able to get rid of it by uninstalling Docky, installing Compiz, and reinstalling it. I think it has something to do with the compositor, though. When I turn off Compiz, that line comes back time to time with Docky. Trying installing Compton, Compiz, or Cario Compmgr to see if that helps.
