• [SOLVED] - Unable to Delete Files?

Evening. I’m no stranger to Linux, but I am very new to Antergos and Gnome Shell 3.

So far so good, although I notice that I am not able to use the delete key to move files to the trash. If I hold Shift+Delete, I can permanently delete files, but how do I enable traditional trashcan behavior?

    Thanks

  • Got it resolved. Not sure why they did this, I guess it was an effort by the Gnome team to save us from ourselves or something… Some traditions you just don’t mess with…

    Anyway, edit the file ~/.config/nautilus/accels

    Find this line:

    ; (gtk_accel_path “<Actions>/DirViewActions/Trash” “<Primary>Delete”)

    and change it to

    (gtk_accel_path “<Actions>/DirViewActions/Trash” “Delete”)
    Save and exit the file.

Either log out, or restart the computer, or just restart nautilus with the following command:

    nautilus -q

    and you’re done.
