• Installing on a drive with Windows?

    Hello!

So I’ve been trying to figure out this one, decided to post it here.

Currently I am trying to install Antergos on a hard drive that currently has Windows installed. Last night I set up a 300GB partition on this drive for the OS, but I’m not sure what to do with said partition.

    Here’s where I am currently: http://i.imgur.com/od7kSf0.png

I don’t want to erase any of the data in the sda2 drive because that is where I have Windows currently. Would I just set the ‘Linux’ drive to the ‘Root (/)’ mount? What do I do about the ‘EFI (/boot)’ mount?

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

What are your system specs? How much RAM? Also, is it UEFI boot? Usually the EFI partition will show up as FAT or vFAT but yours shows ntfs.

Hey! Sorry, the forums were down for me yesterday so I didn’t see this reply.

    I have 16GB of DDR3 RAM.

Not entirely sure about the UEFI boot or not. Here’s what my current partitions look like: http://i.imgur.com/nQGglRj.png
Any way to find out? I’ve tried searching but most results are for Windows 8 and don’t seem to work with Windows 7.

Should I unallocate the ‘Linux’ partition?

    Thanks!

  • Okay, it looks like you are using BIOS boot. That’s not a problem. So my advice on how to proceed is to use the advanced mode in the installer to delete the partition you created for Antergos . That will result in it being shown as “Free Space”. Using that free space I recommend you create the following two partitions and mount them as shown:

    Partition Size Mount Point
    sda3 4GB swap
    sda4 296GB /

Let me know if you have any questions :-)
