• CPU at 100% \[Solved\]

    My notebook HP Pavilion g6
    Processor Manufacturer Intel
    Processor Type Core i3
    Processor Model i3-380M
    Processor Speed 2.53 GHz
    Processor Core Dual-core (2 Core)
    Cache 3 MB
    Ram 6 GB
When starting my Antergos-Openbox, the CPU is at 50% already. Once Chromium is opened, with 3 or 4 tabs the CPU is at 78 to 100% . Fan noise permanently.
What could be the reason and what could I do to fix the problem?
    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Open the terminal and run the top utility. Check what is eating your CPU.

By the way, which graphics card are you using? Fan problems sometimes are related to display drivers…

  • It looked to be Chromium. The cpu is ok, around 20% now. For a couple of days it was going crazy.
    Graphic card:
Looking for the notebook specs in google:
AMD Radeon HD 6470M (1 GB DDR3 dedicated)
    $ lspci
VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
I’m not sure if that is the correct information about the card.[/color:1uo0abse]

  • Hi,

Yes, that’s the info I asked for :p

For what I’ve read, it could be a driver problem, but I think it’s going to be difficult to find out what exactly is. You could try install the privative drivers, but if I were you I’d simply use firefox and live with it. :p

    Cheers!

  • No problem.
