• Privacy & Security

Hey love your distro i would donate but you don’t accept btc,ltc or even
fucking dogecoins. Anyways was wondering if you could focus some more
attention to privacy & security, like for example including RAM wipe at
shutdown/reboot , and It would be useful to implement hardened kernels and
builds by default. There have been plenty of times where new exploits have
been used to compromise systems, and hardening the system by doing things
such as installing hardened kernels would help prevent that. I did a bit
more research and there appears to be a problem with Nvidia drivers and
hardened kernels, so it would be better to make hardening optional until
that’s resolved. Anyways these are just some suggestions and love what you
    guys did with kde.

  • Hi,

Sorry about that. We’re a small project with only a handful of developers. None of us deal with bitcoins so accepting them would require time/work from us that could be better spent on more important tasks. Security is important to us. Wiping the RAM is an interesting suggestion. We’ll certainly look into it. Ad for hardening the kernel, I’m afraid we don’t have the resources that maintaining a kernel would require. Arch’s kernel is well-compiled when it comes to security. There is currently an on-going discussion amongst the Arch developers about adding further hardening features to the kernel. You can monitor those discussions on the Arch-Dev mailing list.

    Thanks for your feedback. Cheers!

  • Ok thanks for the reply, hopefully you can include RAM wiping in the future.
