• Very Slow Printing

CUPS has always been pretty slow for me, but in past couple of months it has gotten beyond slow. Printing works if you wait long enough.

As a simple test - I used Firefox 34 to goto Google home page. Simply print that nice white landing page. It takes about [b:aggr9673]6 minutes and 45 seconds[/b:aggr9673] to print that page.

    Desktop: Linux dldsk01 3.17.3-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Nov 14 23:13:48 CET 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    Core i7 based, 16GB RAM.

Network Printer: Brother MFC-8890DW. *NOT* using wireless. Both computer and desktop are on the same gigabit ethernet switch. This is a 32PPM laser printer. (Printing from Windows is instant, page is out before I can lean over and grab it).

The /var/log/cups/error_log has no activity while waiting to print. The printer “data” light is flashing the entire time, showing that data is coming in.

    CUPS 2.01 using BR-Script3 driver.

Anything else you need to know to help … please ask.

    Journal logs only had this:

    Dec 03 16:27:35 dldsk01 dbus[371]: [system] Rejected send message, 10 matched rules; type="method\_return", sender=":1.50" (uid=84 pid=708 comm="avahi-daemon: starting up") interface="(unset)" member="(unset)" error name="(unset)" requested\_reply="0" destination=":1.335" (uid=1000 pid=23374 comm="/usr/lib/firefox/firefox ")

Sometimes printing additional jobs immediatly afterwards is much faster, but I haven’t found a pattern to this.
