• \[SOLVED\] df -h Showing incorrect free space on home partition.

    Hi

    When I run

    df -h /home

    I get following output.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sda11 41G 34G 4.2G 90% /home

Now total size is 41G, Used space is 34G, Available is 4.2G. So where is 2.8GB gone? Does my home patition has some errors? How do I check it or fix it?

  • I assume this is an ext(2,3,4)-Partition. By default 5% of an ext-filesystem will be flagged as reserved for root user to avoid fragmentation.

  • It’s ext4 partition. So do you think it’s normal and there is no errors in the partition? I also wanted to know any easy to use graphical disk utiltity to check partition for errors.

  • For (graphical) Disk Utility

    sudo pacman -S gnome-disk-utility

    Live CD/USB

    [System Rescue CD[/url:2c5irkvq]
    Ultimate Boot CD[/url:2c5irkvq]]1]0

  • Thanks
